Dr. Zofia Wosinska is a Polish-born dye chemist and spent much of her career in cancer research and at Roche developing dye-based solutions used in medical diagnosis. Zofia’s undergraduate work looked at the roles patients’ mental wellbeing and social support play in the physical battle against breast cancer. Zofia has an MBA in Finance from the Wharton, University of Pennsylvania, where she led the Wharton San Francisco Social Impact Conference with focus on for-profit for-impact business models.
Zofia’s start-up, ÉSTAINE, creates luxury fashion inspired by the dyes used in diagnosis. The unique fabric designs strive to spark conversations around early cancer detection. Through revenue sharing and sale of striking and smart fashion ÉSTAINE helps fight the war on cancer. In March 2015, ÉSTAINE successfully completed a Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign to fund the first line of products.
